May 2010

On Monday 10 May the Jul-10 raw sugar futures contract settled at US14.18c/lb, having fallen for 13 weeks. Two weeks later, Monday 24 May, it settled 101 pts higher at US15.19c/lb. Read more
On Monday 17 May the Jul-10 raw sugar futures contract settled at US14.44c/lb. Two weeks later, Monday 7 June, it settled 43 pts higher at US14.87c/lb. It would appear sugar values have found a short-term base reflective of Brazil's cost of production. Read more

Raw sugar prices as reflected by the New York based futures market have generally moved sideways or down over the last two weeks, albeit with continued intra-day volatility. Read more
The futures market price curve for raw sugar was not long ago in "backwardation", whereby the price for nearby delivery was higher than that for future delivery. Read more

The ICE No.11 July 2010 raw sugar futures contract continued to fall over the 2 week period ending Friday 26th March 2010 from around US 19 c/lb to around US 17 c/lb. There was continued volatility with 100 point moves both up and down. Read more
The ICE No.11 July 2010 raw sugar futures contract fell over the week ending 12th March 2010 from around US 21 c/lb to around US 19 c/lb. It was down US 1.91 c/lb over the week and traded between a high of US 20.97 and a low of US 18.00 c/lb. Read more

The ICE No.11 March 2010 raw sugar futures contract resumed its push higher during the review period (20th January 2010 - 1st February 2010), testing US 30 c/lb. Read more

The ICE No.11 March 2010 raw sugar futures contract opened the review period (14th December 2010 - 5th January 2010) at US 24.00 c/lb and climbed throughout the holiday period before briefly spiking to US 28.90 c/lb (a 29 year high) Read more
